Chen Yijun, a native of Jingjiang, returned to his hometown, Jiangfeng village, in the Jiangyin-Jingjiang Industrial Park by the end of 2024. There, he launched a parrot breeding farm named Mengzhi, which means "weaving dreams". This marked his entry into the world of parrot husbandry and breeding and injecting new vitality into rural vitalization.
Chen said the farm currently cares for over 100 chicks, ranging from newborns to three months. These young parrots need constant feeding, hydration, and nutritional support.
Since childhood, Chen has shown a deep fondness for small animals. In 2013, he started breeding parrots at home as pets. Through years of learning and hands-on experience, he has honed his skills, becoming proficient in parrot husbandry and training.
He obtained a national key protected wildlife artificial breeding license from the Forestry Department of Jiangsu last year and signed an import agreement with a parrot breeding farm in Danxian county, Shandong province, importing over 200 parrots in the first batch.
Chen also shares videos and photos of his parrots on social media platforms such as Douyin and Xiaohongshu. This has drawn a large following of parrot enthusiasts, broadening his sales reach.
