Eighteen free water supply stations were recently set up along the Yangtze River in Jingjiang, a county-level city in Taizhou, East China's Jiangsu province, ensuring that all river vessels within the city can access free water.

Last December, the Jingjiang maritime safety office of Taizhou launched the first set of free water supply stations at inland ports, including the Luojiaqiao, Liuzhugang, and Heshanggang ports.

They were the first free water supply stations in Jiangsu province and were warmly welcomed by crew members.

"With the introduction of free water, our operational costs have decreased, and water usage is safer, allowing us to focus more securely on navigation work," said Captain Yuan Guangmo.

This year, the office has coordinated resources and encouraged wharves across Jingjiang to join in the construction of the free water supply stations, successfully establishing a total of 18 stations to date.

So far, these stations have provided 3,753 metric tons of free potable water to over 3,000 river vessels.
