Jingjiang, a county-level city in Taizhou, has achieved progress in water quality during the first quarter of 2025, with 100 percent of water quality at excellent level III standard and 80 percent reaching excellent level II — a year-on-year increase of 10 percent and 50 percent, respectively.

This success stems from sustained efforts in pollution control, including stricter industrial wastewater treatment, upgrades to urban sewage systems, and targeted measures to reduce agricultural runoff.

Since last year, the city has inspected and improved 270 phosphorus-related enterprises, achieving a 62.5 percent rectification rate, while a newly launched Xingang Industrial Wastewater Treatment Plant now processes 3,000 metric tons daily.

Since 2024, Jingjiang has rebuilt 52.5 kilometers of wastewater pipelines and implemented rainwater-sewage separation in 157 residential areas, boosting urban wastewater treatment rates from 63.66 percent in 2023 to 74.9 percent.

To combat agricultural pollution, the city has restored farmland ponds, established ecological buffer zones, and promoted sustainable straw reuse, demonstrating a comprehensive approach to cleaner water and a healthier environment.
