Construction has been speeding up on the food street project in Shengci town in Jingjiang, a county-level city in Taizhou, East China's Jiangsu province.

Since the first phase began construction in Dec 2024, work has been progressing according to schedule. The project is expected to be completed in Oct 2025 and open to the public by the end of the year.

The project covers nearly 10,000 square meters of land, with a building area of about 4,500 sq m and a total investment of 100 million yuan ($13.88 million).

"The banquet hall and hotel portion of the first phase's No 1 building have been topped off, and construction has begun on the first floor of the street-level shops of the No 2 building, with the main structure expected to be fully topped off by mid-May," said Chen Wenjie, the project leader.

"The first phase is planned to be handed over for inspection by June 30 and completed by October," Chen added.

The food street will feature a traditional Chinese architectural style, offering a variety of foods including pastries, cakes, and delicatessen.

The street will be divided into different areas for local snacks, special restaurants, cultural and creative products, and leisure and entertainment.
