Farmers in Maqiao town, Jingjiang, a county-level city in Taizhou, Jiangsu province, are celebrating a plentiful harvest of cherry tomatoes. Live-streaming hosts are delivering the fresh produce at a local specialty e-commerce center, drawing considerable buyer interest.
"Last year, we began cultivating cherry tomatoes, but faced challenges in sales channels," said local grower Zhou Quan. "The e-commerce center took the initiative to assist us in promoting both online and offline."
According to Zhou, daily online sales now surpass 300 jin (150 kilograms), complemented by direct purchases from supermarkets and fruit stores.
Founded in 2023 by revitalizing unused assets in Xuzhou village, the Maqiao Specialty E-commerce Center helps local farmers sell a variety of agricultural products.
"Since launching the center, we have assisted local growers in selling nearly 30 types of farm products and grown our follower count to 10,000," said Sun Yue, a staff member.
All products sold through the center go through a strict selection process and are delivered on the same day from harvest to shipment, added Sun.
