The first batch of steel components for the new Sava River bridge in Belgrade, Serbia, manufactured by China State Construction Engineering Group (CSCEG), located in Jingjiang, a county-level city in Taizhou, East China's Jiangsu province, departed from Datong International Wharf in Jingjiang on Aug 29.

The shipment will depart via Taicang Port in Jiangsu for Serbia, with on-site installation scheduled to commence after its anticipated arrival in late November.

As a critical piece of transportation infrastructure in Belgrade, this new bridge will replace the existing structure with a modern steel design spanning 420 meters in length and 38 meters in width.

This initial shipment includes main girder segments and arch foot sections totaling 2,862 metric tons. Produced jointly by the CSCEG's Wuhan and Jingjiang facilities, the Jingjiang plant alone contributed over 1,700 tons of core components.

"All components underwent millimeter-precision pre-assembly before shipment, enabling modular construction akin to giant Lego blocks," said Chen Gong, head of the Jiangsu manufacturing unit.

Leveraging smart manufacturing technologies, CSCEG has secured multiple major international projects in recent years, including station buildings for Malaysia's east coast railway, Serbia's national football stadium, the Belgrade expo center, and bridges for the Hungary-Serbia railway.
