The application of modern mechanical hardware and intelligent management software has paved the way for increased efficiency and productivity in the agricultural sector in Taixing – a county-level city administered by Taizhou, located in East China's Jiangsu province.

In recent days tech people at the Yingjie family farm – located in Taixing's Heshi town – have been busy using drones to spray the wheat fields. With drones, nearly 100 mu (6.67 hectares) of wheat can be sprayed in less than two hours, said Huang Yingjie, head of the family farm.

In addition, intelligent management software, equipped with the internet of things and remote sensing technology, has become increasingly popular in the city.

People can obtain information about plowing, growing, managing and harvesting through internet of things technology and can adjust indoor temperatures in greenhouses and the like, as well as light duration and the delivery of water and fertilizer, to keep crops maintained in tip-top condition.

To date, nearly 363,000 mu of crops in Taixing have been subject to digital, intelligent and precise planting.

Last year, Taixing spent provincial agricultural mechanization funds of 5.5 million yuan ($806,343) and additional support funds of 900,000 yuan – as well as introduced over 2,000 special, intelligent and eco-friendly agricultural machines – laying a solid foundation for the development of intelligent agriculture.
