County-level city Taixing – administered by Taizhou, in East China's Jiangsu province – is moving to further develop its health industry and aims to generate total output value of 66.8 billion yuan ($9.76 billion) in the current year.

On Feb 6, Taizhou held a groundbreaking ceremony for the health sector and 11 Taixing projects with a total investment of 1.44 billion yuan started construction that day.

In recent years, Taixing has focused on its medicine, food, health care products and cosmetics fields and has continued to promote the scale and quality of the health sector.

With the settling there of leading enterprises, a biomedicines and medical equipment industry cluster has emerged in Taixing.

The Taixing Economic Development Zone has leveraged its fine chemicals resources to develop bulk pharmaceutical chemicals and cosmeceuticals.

Furthermore, the Taixing Huangqiao Economic Development Zone has moved to become a new highland for future food and to develop a "Bio-fermentation and Future Food City of China".

Elsewhere, the Urban Industrial Park is focusing on the medical device industry and the scale of its medical health sector has topped 1.5 billion yuan.

The deep processing of agricultural products and the food industry are seen as primary drivers of the Modern Agricultural Industrial Park there. It aims to build a health food supply base in the Yangtze River Delta region.
