Liberian-registered bulk carrier ASL JUPITER, which has a maximum capacity load of 82,000 metric tons, docked on Feb 24 at a terminal at Taixing Port – in East China's Jiangsu province – marking a turning point for the facility, which can now handle large cargo vessels.

The vessel, carrying 55,000 tons of iron ore powder, docked at the public terminal in the Qiwei operations area of Taixing Port. It is the largest ship ever handed by the terminal in terms of load capacity.

The terminal is located at the diamond-class section of the golden waterway of the lower Yangtze River and it is expected to relieve the transport handling pressures on the region's businesses.

Considering the large size and high tonnage of the vessel, staff from Taixing Port maintained close contact with the vessel's agents and the previous port. They also inspected the vessel's route and closely tracked it through the application of big data.

During the docking, they also implemented strict supervision measures to ensure safe and efficient maneuvers.

In recent years, Taixing Port has mainly handled bulk cargo, with general cargo as an auxiliary sideline – focusing on both domestic and foreign trade – to provide high-quality and efficient logistics transfer services for clients.
