Taixing city sets out to improve solid waste management

The municipal government of the county-level city of Taixing – administered by Taizhou, in East China's Jiangsu province – recently released a plan to improve its management of solid waste.

Under the blueprint, it will move towards a recycling and utilization rate of over 40 percent of domestic waste by 2025. By the end of 2030, the target is to establish an efficient solid waste collection and transportation network.

The plan outlines actions that are to be undertaken in stages. By the end of this year, the city will smooth out the management mechanism of  various types of solid waste-industrial solid waste, hazardous solid waste, medical waste and domestic waste, among others.

By the end of 2025, the reduction, resource utilization and harmless treatment levels of solid waste is expected to have been fundamentally improved, with a network information platform covering all fields established.

Furthermore, by the end of 2030 the utilization level of solid waste is expected to be comprehensively improved and synergies introduced of pollution reduction and carbon reduction.
