The final of the national premade dish competition was held in Taixing – administered by Taizhou in East China's Jiangsu province – on Nov 10.
The contest is seen as a key platform to boost the sector's large-scale development.
The top 10 premade delicious dishes, the top 10 innovative premade dishes, and the favorite premade dish were all named. The evaluation criteria included the dishes’ nutritional value, convenience in terms of preparation, and innovation.
Baised puffer fish in brown sauce, presented by a contestant from Taixing, was recognized as a dish with the best regional characteristics.
Since its launch on July 30, the competition has held four sub-events in Ganzhou in Jiangxi province, Huainan city in Anhui province, Shanxian county in Shandong province, and Taixing city.
The competition has attracted 327 enterprises from over 20 provinces to participate with 346 dishes.
The goals of this contest, as outlined by Taixing city, are promoting the high-quality development of the premade dish industry and striving to upgrade the city into a nationally renowned area for this niche industry, said Zhang Kun, Taixing's Party secretary.
