Taixing city expects GDP to jump 6.5 percent in 2024

Taixing city – administered by Taizhou city in East China's Jiangsu province – recently set out the development goal of realizing a 6.5 percent increase in GDP in 2024.

The target was released at the third plenary session of the sixteenth session of the Taixing City People's Congress, held on Jan 9.

In the current year, Taixing is projected to increase its general public budget revenue by 5 percent, fixed assets investment by about 6 percent and industrial invoicing sales by 8 percent.

The proportion of social R&D investment in Taixing's GDP is expected to hit 2.75 percent, while total retail sales of social consumer goods are projected to increase by 6.5 percent.

Taixing Mayor Liu Wenrong said the city would adhere to the central task of economic construction and the primary task of high-quality development.

In particular, Taixing would strive to cultivate new competitive advantages in industries, pursue reform and innovation, scale up and balance urban and rural development, boost high-quality living standards and work on improving the local government's performance.
