Huangqiao ancient town – located in Taixing city, in East China's Jiangsu province – staged a raft of fun activities for folks and tourists to celebrate the Lantern Festival, which fell on Feb 24 this year.

The town was festooned with colorful lanterns and dragon-themed things, to really stoke up the festive vibes.

Stepping on the stones in the ancient alley, people had a great time experiencing the activities there – including viewing lanterns, guessing lantern riddles, and tasting tangyuan, or glutinous rice dumplings.

"Although the weather was relatively cold, tourists were very keen to visit, which made me feel that our efforts were worth it," said Liu Jingjing, director of Huangqiao town's tourist service center.

Statistics showed Huangqiao town received over 300,000 tourists during the Spring Festival period and generated tourism revenue of 350 million yuan ($48.62 million).

The Spring Festival celebrations will continue until the end of March.
