Taixing city, situated in East China's Jiangsu province, is moving to build a 10-billion-yuan green environmental protection industry cluster by 2026.
As early as 2008, the city took the lead in listing the green environmental protection industry as a key development direction. Now, after more than a decade of cultivation, the industry has really begun to take shape.
In 2024, the city was already home to 85 green environmental protection enterprises above a designated size, those with annual revenue of 20 million yuan ($2.75 million) or more, generating invoiced sales of 8.03 billion yuan.

One of them is Jiangsu Nanji Machinery, a specialized ship support company, integrating scientific research, production, sales and services.
After about two years of research and development, the company completed the independent development of the very first ship's methanol fuel supply system, helping to convert ship fuel from heavy oil into clean energy.
Another company, Jiangsu Hehai Water Supply and Drainage Equipment, specializes in the development and research of environmental protection equipment for such things as pump stations, water treatment and dredging.
It is the first in China to develop a series of equipment for crushing grids, solid waste crushers and anaerobic pyrolysis of urban household waste.
This year, the company is aiming to generate 400 million yuan in sales of new green and eco-friendly products.
