The Institute of Food Science and Technology at the Chinese Academy of Agricultural Sciences on April 2 signed a landmark agreement with the Taixing Agricultural Products Processing Park.
This was to co-build the planned China Agricultural Products Future Processing Innovation Research Institute in the park, located in Taixing, Jiangsu province.
The new institute will promote the transformation of the agricultural product processing industry in the park from deep processing to future food.
The first batch of two high-tech academician projects, four research institute incubation project and six cooperation projects between scientific research institutions and enterprises also signed contracts to settle in the Taixing Agricultural Products Processing Park.
The new research institute will focus on the strategic directions of new resource exploration and functional research, analysis and the efficient utilization of functional food components.
It will also focus on the creation of precision nutrition and health food, synthetic biology, intelligent processing and equipment, as well as quality and safety, striving to enhance the innovation level of the future processing of agricultural products.
As the first academician to settle in the research institute, Xue Changhu, an academician of the Chinese Academy of Engineering and a professor of Ocean University of China, brought two future food high-tech projects in the areas of microwave short-time sterilization and food biosynthesis.
Xue said that he would help build the park into an innovative mecca for the health food industry and for high value-added products.
