Farmland is the lifeline of grain production, and Taixing in East China's Jiangsu province has seen major success in farmland protection through unceasing efforts.

Jiangsu recently announced 10 advanced typical cases of farmland protection, with Taixing's farmland protection mechanism making the list.

The city government has issued the "Interim Measures for the Protection and Incentive of Farmland in Taixing City", which classifies and formulates evaluation rules for protecting and incentivizing farmland in townships and villages (residential areas).

The city's farmland area has increased 1,180 hectares since 2020, and it has successfully safeguarded land quantity, quality, and ecology.

Due to strong efforts to protect its farmland, it has been recognized as an advanced area for farmland protection and incentives in the province three times. Its seven townships have also been praised, with a reward and incentive fund of 14 million yuan ($1.96 million) being granted.
