A medicine for colds – called Dextromethorphan Hydrobromide, Guaifenesin and Pseudoephedrine Hydrochloride Oral Solution – has recently come into high demand for the treatment of COVID-19.
It's estimated that about 29,000 boxes of the medicine have been sent to hospitals and drug stores every day in December by manufacturer Yue Xing Pharmaceutical – located in the Xinghua Economic Development Zone, in Xinghua city, in East China's Jiangsu province.
As a result, the company is now pushing to speed up production and ensure the supply of the medicine.
Zou Weiliang, director of its production center, said the group had urgently procured and allocated raw materials in response to the home treatment policy.
Staff in the production center have now gone on three shifts per day instead of the previous one shift per day, with the machines not resting when people are rotated off.
"Although there is urgent demand from the market, we need to guard the quality, to ensure that all drugs are in compliance with quality standards," said by Sheng Guobin, a member of staff at the group's quality center.
Considering the relatively slow speed of logistics and freight, the marketing management department has deployed special vehicles to ensure that the drugs are delivered as soon as possible, he added.
