Substantive progress was made at the fourth session of the 17th People's Congress of Xinghua city, located in East China's Jiangsu province, which was held on Jan 6.
Shao Jianfeng, deputy Party secretary of Xinghua and the acting mayor, delivered a work report to the conference.
Shao said that over the past year, the city's regional gross domestic product was estimated to have hit 121.5 billion yuan ($16.57 million), an increase of 6 percent.
Moreover, the public budget revenue and fixed asset investment came in at 5.1 billion yuan and 49.1 billion yuan, up 0.2 percent and 15 percent, respectively.
The city's per capita disposable income of urban and rural residents reached 56,353 yuan and 32,066 yuan, respectively, a rise of 4.6 percent and 7.1 percent.
Most notably, Xinghua was honored as a State-list famous historical and culture city in 2024, making it the only city to be approved in the province in the past eight years.
Shao also released the main regulatory targets for the economic and social development of the city for 2025.
In the current year, Xinghua is projected to see its GDP grow by more than 6.5 percent, public budget revenue gain by more than 2 percent, fixed assets investment and total retail sales of consumer goods both gain by 8 percent.
In addition, the per capita disposable income of residents is projected to keep pace with economic growth. The city will also see its energy conservation and emission reduction achieve the provincial target and the safety production situation continue to stabilize and improve.
Shao added that Xinghua would center its focus around building a modern industrial system, enlarging the effect of being a State-list famous historical and culture city and building a fertile land of fish and rice in the new era.
