The Xinghua Economic Development Zone, situated in the southwest direction of Xinghua, Jiangsu province, was established in 1992 and approved by the Jiangsu Provincial People's Government as a provincial-level economic development zone in 1993.
With a total area of 170 square kilometers and a population of 99,600, the zone was recognized among the first batch of national agricultural industrialization demonstration bases, a characteristic industrial cluster in Jiangsu, and as an innovation base for China's health food industry.
In 2024, the zone achieved a regional GDP of 20 billion yuan ($2.77 billion) and a general public budget revenue of 763 million yuan.
Health food and high-end equipment manufacturing industries are two highlights of the zone. The zone is home to a complete health food industrial chain, covering seasoning, agricultural, and related product processing, leisure food, dairy products, premade food, and functional food. Major companies include Taizhou Anjoy Food, Wudeli Group Xinghua Flour, and Kerisom Food Biotechnology. High-end equipment manufacturing, the zone's second main industry after health food, has formed industrial chains for transmission machinery, complete equipment, and component production.
In the future, the zone will rely on top enterprises and technological innovation to achieve high-speed growth and continuously optimize its industrial structure, striving to create a leading national industrial demonstration base.
In terms of the health food sector, it will focus on major categories of compound seasonings, rice and flour products, premade foods, dried fruits and vegetables, snack foods, and dairy products to create a health food industry cluster characterized by its diversity as well as green, high-end development.
Efforts will also be made to optimize the equipment manufacturing industry. With a focus on transmission machinery, intelligent manufacturing, marine equipment, precision casting, and complete sets of equipment, the zone aims to form a high-end and highly innovative equipment industry cluster.
In addition, the zone will strengthen the construction of carrier platforms such as its science and technology innovation zone for emerging industries and offshore technology incubation center to spur the vitality of enterprise innovation and development.
