The Diaopu sub-district in the Taizhou Medical High-tech Zone – located in Taizhou city in East China's Jiangsu province – has pushed ahead with the transformation of its agrarian sector and it has acted to improve the rural environment to promote rural revitalization.

It has developed its leisure agriculture, as an effective way to boost productivity in its mainstream agriculture and increase the incomes of farmers – and to expand the levels of lush plants that cover the area.

What's more, the structure of planting is understood to have been modified in the sub-district. As a result, there is less planting of traditional crops – such as rice and corn – and more emphasis on more niche species including citrons, pecans and peonies for use in oils.
