The Taizhou Medical High-tech Zone, also known as Gaogang district in Taizhou, East China's Jiangsu province, ranked 9th in a list measuring the competitiveness of national biopharmaceutical industrial parks in 2022 – its best record to date.
The list was released during the 2023 China Biotech Innovation Conference, which was held recently in the Sichuan provincial capital of Chengdu.
The evaluation criteria gauges how competitive an industrial park is on an environmental, industrial and technological level, as well as in terms of its talent and level of international cooperation.
A total of 204 industrial parks nationwide participated in the evaluation, with the Taizhou Medical High-tech Zone ranking inside the top 10 in terms in terms of industrial, technological, and environmental competitiveness.
Boasting distinct industrial advantages, the zone specializes in biological products (including antibodies and vaccines), new chemical drug formulations, diagnostic reagents, and high-end medical devices. It also features industries such as special medical formula foods and animal health products.
Around the biopharmaceutical research and innovation chain, the zone has formed a complete public technology service platform ecosystem, providing one-stop services for enterprises including research and development, pilot testing and clinical trials.
