The Taizhou Medical High-tech Zone, the first national level high-tech zone for pharmaceuticals in China, was established in 2009 as a germinating seed for Taizhou's pharma and health industry.
Taizhou has since then made efforts to comprehensively optimize the innovation, cost and approvals environment, deeply cultivating the robust ecosystem of its health industry, according to the city's bureau for market regulation.
Catering to the technological needs of the health industry, Taizhou has successively built 23 high-level innovative service platforms such as the Vaccine Engineering Center and the Drug Safety Evaluation Center.
In response to the financing difficulties faced by tech-based small and medium-sized enterprises, Taizhou has launched a raft of financial products to reduce the financing costs of businesses.
In the Taixing Huangqiao Economic Development Zone, new projects in the production of specialty foods, such as new alternative protein foods, fully nutritious specialty foods and biomimetic gastrointestinal bioreactors, are flourishing.
What's more, the zone has successfully introduced a group of industry experts and talented people by linking human resources.

The zone has also promoted special investment promotions, constructed the "Bio-fermentation and Future Food City of China" to high standards, as well as operated platforms including the China Bio-fermentation and Future Food Industry Research Institute, boosting the linkages of industrial projects.
In addition, Taizhou has acted to ensure that the development of the health sector benefits more locals. For example, it has improved its medical resource supply capacity to provide support for the prevention and management of chronic diseases.
Looking ahead, plans are for the city to systematically carry out the integration of the entire health industry supply chain.
Efforts will be made to innovate business models and expand applications scenarios around specialized medical care, rehabilitation and elderly care, health tourism, sports and fitness and more.
