The Ministry of Industry and Information Technology recently announced a list of 168 pilot projects for the 10-gigabit optical network that is being developed nationally.
One pilot project is to be conducted in the Taizhou Medical High-tech Zone, Taizhou city, Jiangsu province.
The 10-gigabit optical network is an advanced network technology with ultra-high speed, large capacity and intelligent characteristics, which can achieve efficient transmissions and the processing of data.
The bandwidth and speed of the 10-gigabit optical network is much higher than the existing network level, while the network signal latency is only 1/10th that of a gigabit optical network.

The Taizhou pilot project is expected to improve the zone's drug production efficiency markedly.
The 10-gigabit optical network will provide highly reliable and low latency wireless networks for resident enterprises, thereby realizing intelligent manufacturing, remote monitoring and control, intelligent assembly and more.
It can also help improve the efficiency of drug research and development. That's because after connecting to the 10-gigabit optical network, sampling and preparations robots can obtain the latest sensor information much more quickly, accurately and with low latency, greatly improving sampling accuracy and efficiency.
In terms of office and management efficiency, the network can easily cope with various scenarios such as high-density device access, high-definition video conferencing and large file transfers in office areas.
