The first and second phases of the reconstruction project of the Yong'an Operation Area in the Gaogang Port Area of Taizhou Port, located in Taizhou, Jiangsu province, recently passed their final evaluation.

With an investment of 450 million yuan ($63.41 million), the project aims to transform the existing Phase I and Phase II wharf outer piers into a 70,000-metric-ton wharf. The total length of the renovated dock berths is 1,105 meters, with a designed throughput capacity of 17.95 million tons, which is nearly 3.5 times the original capacity.

Among them, berths 1 and 2 are grain and oil berths, while berth 3 is a bulk cargo berth that also handles the loading and unloading of vegetable oil. The existing approach bridge and inner 1,000-ton berth were dismantled and a new 15,000-ton bulk grain berth was built along the rear edge of berth 1.

One 3,000-ton bulk grain berth was newly built on the shore side of berth 1 to accommodate two 1,000-ton ships berthing simultaneously, and supporting facilities such as grain flat warehouses were constructed on land.

The reconstruction project will increase the supply of specialized grain and oil berths in Taizhou, fully meeting the import and export needs of local key enterprises and improving the port's grain loading and unloading capacity and operational efficiency.
