The 2022 China Taizhou Mei Lanfang Art Festival kicked off on Nov 16 in the Taizhou Grand Theater – located in Taizhou city in East China's Jiangsu province – Mei Lanfang (1894-1961), one of the greatest Peking Opera actors.
The festival has been organized in the city since 2008 and has become one of the most influential events of its kind in Chinese theater.

This year's festival will run to the end of December and 11 key activities, including a seminar and a number of performances, will be held.
In addition, the municipal publicity department and Jiangsu Provincial Drama School signed an agreement to train people in Peking Opera to carry forward the rich tradition.
