The Taihe community on Jingtai Road – in the Hailing district of Taizhou city, in East China's Jiangsu province – provides its residents with job training and job opportunities, relying on its so-called Sunflower Seeds entrepreneurship project.
The Taihe community is understood to be the largest subsidized housing community in Hailing district, with more than 5,000 permanent residents.
Among them are 152 low-income households, 63 people with disabilities and many people with employment difficulties – most of whom rely on low income and assistance funds to make ends meet.
Then the community established the Sunflower Seeds entrepreneurship project to provide job opportunities for residents.
Since its establishment, the Taihe community has offered more than 30 training courses in baby-sitting, floristry, baking and other skills training – allowing more than 500 residents to master a skill.
At the same time, the community has coordinated with 12 social organizations and enterprises and has recommended 245 trainees for employment in a post-natal confinement service center and at a housekeeping center.
At the end of 2022, the Sunflower Seeds entrepreneurship project was honored as one of the best projects in Hailing district and in Taizhou city.
