Statistics show that the Hailing district of Taizhou city – located in East China's Jiangsu province – invested in 1.5 million yuan ($206,508) so far this year to install 272 air conditioning units for 136 classrooms in five public primary schools.
During the summer vacation, the installation work was completed and the units will start operating in the autumn semester, benefiting more than 5,000 students.
Hailing district has rolled out an air conditioning installation project for primary and secondary school classrooms since 2021, in a bid to provide teachers and students with a more comfortable teaching and learning environment.
After three years of effort, 374 classrooms have been equipped with air conditioning – achieving an installation rate of 48 percent in primary and secondary classrooms.
Moving forwards, plans are to achieve full coverage in the schools throughout the region by 2025.
