The 2023 training courses of the "Thousand Blue-collar Elite Cultivation Project" in Taizhou, China came to a close on Sept 25.

Over 60 trainees participated in the courses, which are part of Taizhou's strategy to transform itself into a hub for skilled personnel.

Taizhou's Human Resources and Social Security Bureau had earlier this year released a list containing 40 high-demand occupations, including drug preparation and chemical synthesis workers, that are eligible for training subsidies.

To support skilled personnel and enterprises, the local government has been training over 500 enterprises to become skill-based enterprises.

Taizhou has also been providing free skills training to help individuals facing difficulties in finding employment. One beneficiary of this initiative is Su Jianhua, who managed to set up a housekeeping service studio after attending a free skills training course in Hailing district.

The training courses have also helped Chen Zhaogen, who is now the leader of the skill master studio at Jiangsu Pacific Precision Forging Co Ltd, which is based in Jiangyan Economic Development Zone.

Taizhou is committed to promoting a culture that values skills, labor, and talent. The city regularly organizes vocational skills competitions, post-training activities, and events that see skilled professionals share their knowledge in campuses, enterprises, and communities.
