The crab roe bun and the Yangcao bun, made in the Hailing district of Taizhou city – located in East China's Jiangsu province – were recently recognized as being two stunning tasty treats.

That's according to a statement released by the Taizhou Association of Culinary.

For Taizhou folks, starting the day with a zaocha or early breakfast tea is the perfect way to go. The honored buns are the two classics among the rich variety of steamed stuffed buns that the city has to offer.

The dense water network in Hailing provides ideal conditions for the growth of delectable freshwater crabs. The joy of Hailing's tasty crab roe bun lies in the production of its filling, made from local high-quality female crabs and combined with pork.

The cooked crab roe buns mix the original flavor of the pork and the fresh sweetness of the crab meat.

The Yangcao bun, meanwhile, stands out with its wafting fragrance. As a pollution-free green food, Yangcao is a herb that can resist cold and drought. The pleasant climate in Hailing makes it great for the growth of Yangcao throughout the four seasons.

The newly recognized Yangcao buns have a wonderful aroma, condensing the very taste of spring.
