The launch ceremony for the Hu Yuan Reading Month and Book Fragrance Hailing Reading Month was held on April 22 at the Anding Academy – in the Hailing district of Taizhou city, in East China's Jiangsu province.
The event was held to welcome World Book and Copyright Day on April 23.
Notably, this edition of Hu Yuan Reading Month is seeing a historic collaboration with the Hongsu reading event in Hailing district – introducing a diverse range of activities encompassing themed, branded, group and categorized reading experiences.
Liu Xia, vice-mayor of Taizhou, told the launch ceremony that the collaboration would further enhance the overall book reading atmosphere, raise the public profile of books and boost the digital reading experience.
Diverse activities such as singing and dancing performances, situational dramas, music, poetry and painting were performed at the event to show the long-standing literary heritage of Taizhou and the strong atmosphere there for reading.
Taizhou's first digital study room was also launched at the ceremony, which features an innovative digital culture and tourism experience space for locals and tourists that uses a 5G network.
Hailing will hold 20 key events during the reading month.
