Thanks to the generous consumption subsidies of the government and local commercial complexes, coupled with the robust consumer demand during the Spring Festival holiday, a shopping frenzy was unleashed in Taizhou's Hailing district.
Subsidies differ from one shopping mall to another and across various types of commodities.
At Taizhou Yibai, a local shopping mall in the Hailing district, customers who made clothing purchases totaling 1000 yuan ($137.21) or more were treated to 100 yuan cashback.
"The consumption subsidy vouchers, initially totaling 2,000, now have 450 left. This policy has delivered tangible savings to consumers and energized the mall's shopping vibe," said Ji Ping, the mall's operations director.
At the Taizhou Golden Eagle International Shopping Center, people flocked to the cosmetic counters participating in the special subsidy promotions.
"Thanks to the government's subsidies, purchasing cosmetics feels like I'm getting a good deal. I figured it was the perfect time to pick up a little something as a Chinese New Year treat for myself," said Hailing citizen lady Zhang.
