In 1939, the CPC Taixian Committee set up the Gangmen Farmers' Political Night School and clubs in Gangyang, spreading anti-Japanese ideas through literacy classes and mobile lectures. The town became a key underground hub linking Central and Northern Jiangsu. Today, Gangyang thrives with an annual output of over 4 million pots of anthuriums and phalaenopsis, generating more than 80 million yuan ($11.21 million) and blossoming toward rural vitalization.
