A pioneering pet-themed park integrating pedigree certification, scientific research, public education, cultural exchange, and recreational interaction opened on Sept 7 at Qilin Bay Scenic Area within the National Modern Agricultural Park of Hailing district, Taizhou.
During the launch event, the park hosted Taizhou's inaugural World Cat Federation (WCF) International Purebred Cat Show. The show attracted a total of 85 entries, representing a diverse array of provinces and cities across China, including Guangdong, Hubei, Beijing, Tianjin, Zhejiang, Jiangsu, Anhui, Shanghai, and Fujian.
Competing breeds included Maine Coon, Canadian Sphynx, Devon Rex, and Selkirk Rex.
"I brought two Maine Coons from my Suzhou cattery: a blue silver and a smoke gray. Both have previously won Best of Breed in youth categories, and now we're aiming for Junior World Champion titles," said Ni Shunkang, a cattery owner.
The event showcased a panel of judges, including those at the WCF diamond-level and all-breeds experts, who evaluated the participating cats. Their assessment was based on a comprehensive set of breed standards that encompass various critical aspects such as head proportion, body structure, symmetry, and coat quality.
This rigorous evaluation process emphasizes the high standards and professionalism upheld by the judging panel, as highlighted by Tommy, chairperson of The International Cat Association and the WCF club.
This competition was more than just an exhibition; it served as China's qualifying trial for the WCF Malaysia World Show.
As one of the world's four major cat associations and the most active organizer of international cat shows, WCF aimed to select representatives for China's global championship team.
