Hailing achieves remarkable growth during 14th Five-Year Plan period

During the 14th Five-Year Plan period (2021-25), Hailing district in Taizhou, Jiangsu province, witnessed remarkable economic and industrial advancements.

The district's GDP surged past the milestones of 70 billion yuan ($10.08 billion) and 80 billion yuan in succession, averaging a 5.8 percent annual growth rate. General public budget revenue and per capita disposable income of residents soared by 17.6 percent and 33.2 percent, respectively, compared to the end of the 13th Five-Year Plan period (2016-20).

Industrially, Hailing excelled, with the crystalline silicon photovoltaic and smart home appliance clusters being recognized as provincial characteristic industry clusters. The district added nine national-level specialized, refined, distinctive, and innovative "little giant" enterprises and 82 provincial-level specialized and sophisticated enterprises, underscoring its innovative prowess.

Consumer markets flourished, with imports and exports surpassing $10.2 billion, a 25.6 percent increase over the end of the 13th Five-Year Plan period (2016-20). The district also prioritized urban-rural development, implementing 247 quality enhancement projects and revitalizing over 50,000 households in old residential areas.

Looking ahead to the 15th Five-Year Plan period (2026-30), Hailing is aiming for sustained growth, targeting an average annual GDP increase of around 5 percent, industrial output above designated size exceeding 80 billion yuan, and a 5 percent yearly rise in R&D investment. The district is committed to fostering new quality productive forces and enhancing consumer market vitality.
