Hailing district's Xiaqi community recently kicked off its annual winter fishing festival, drawing crowds of locals and tourists to witness the harvest from a vast fish pond. As nets brimming with plump fish emerged from the icy waters, cheers and camera flashes filled the air in a show of rural abundance.

This traditional event, deeply rooted in local customs, symbolizes prosperity and unity. Community leader Shen Wen highlighted its significance in preserving heritage and fostering community bonds. "It's a celebration of our connection to the water and a wish for a bountiful harvest every year," he remarked.

Beyond fishing, Xia's nearby restaurant offers a taste of local delicacies, including stewed pork with salted fish and steamed salted fish, blending tradition with modern commerce.

Xiaqi Community is now exploring innovative ways to merge winter fishing traditions with eco-tourism, creating an immersive experience that combines sightseeing, recreation, food, and shopping, thus vitalizing the countryside through cultural integration.
