In Gugao town – in the Jiangyan district of Taizhou city in East China's Jiangsu province – the Jiejiegao Flower Production Base is all hustle and bustle right now as it hits the peak of its annual flower sales.

With 150,000 blooming phalaenopsis, or butterfly orchids, the base defies the season with vibrant colors and fragrances.
Symbolizing good luck and fortune and owing to its butterfly-like appearance, the butterfly orchid is one of the most popular flowers among the public.
Established by Zhang Jie in 2021, the Taizhou Jiejiegao Agricultural Development Co Ltd has transformed 200 mu (13.33 hectares) into a flourishing hub for horticultural flowers, providing employment opportunities for the locals.
The base, with 20 mu of continuous greenhouses, has become the region's premier flower cultivation base and offers over 60 phalaenopsis varieties, meeting a raft of customer preferences. It's experienced robust demand recently, with daily shipments of hundreds of pots with 7,000-8,000 plants.
To ensure its high-quality cultivation, the base has implemented a digital agriculture system, resulting in an annual output of 400,000 seedlings of phalaenopsis and hydrangeas, along with 150,000 grown phalaenopsis.
Moving forwards, plans are for the base to continue to enhance its greenhouse equipment, temperature control and production efficiency – aiming to reduce its environmental impact and improve its production quality and earnings.
