The Jiangyan district of Taizhou city – in East China's Jiangsu province – has redoubled its efforts to assist resident businesses to expand markets and has rolled out a raft of policies to facilitate foreign trade.

"We will help enterprises solve problems in a timely manner and create a better environment to achieve sustained growth in foreign trade," said Shi Jiasheng, head of the Jiangyan commerce bureau.

Statistics from the bureau showed that last year, the district achieved a total export volume of $1.83 billion, up 15.9 percent year-on-year and ranked first among all districts in Taizhou.

Wang Ling, foreign trade business manager of Jiangsu Yuli Medical Instrument Co Ltd, said that with guidance from the bureau, the company participated in matchmaking events during the 132nd Canton Fair that was staged online and signed an order worth over $1 million.

The bureau has visited 27 foreign trade enterprises to publicize policies – such as export tax rebates and tariff reductions – and helped them to apply for foreign trade awards and subsidies at all levels.

"In 2022, we received 965,300 yuan ($141,117) in various foreign trade awards and subsidies," said Teng Yanfei, foreign trade manager of 5ELEM, a leading enterprise for research and development and the manufacture of completed products.

"The district bureau of commerce provided real help for us to explore foreign markets and strengthened our confidence and determination," Teng added.

Jiangyan district also guided enterprises to develop new business, such as cross-border e-commerce and overseas warehouses. Some 61 enterprises were invited to participate in various cross-border e-commerce online and on-site training sessions.
