Taizhou city in East China's Jiangsu province is experiencing significant growth and is boosting its talent training and recruitment to sustain its high-quality industrial development.

The city on Sept 3 celebrated the start of a photovoltaic project in its Hailing district, which is expected to reach a capacity of 60 gigawatts by the end of next year.

Additionally, two large ships were delivered to their Swiss and Singapore owners from the shipyard operated by New Times Shipbuilding Co Ltd, based in Jingjiang city, administered by Taizhou.

The company has already surpassed its original target for ship deliveries and has received 32 new orders this year.

Taizhou is currently focused on building its leading sectors – its marine equipment and high-tech ship industry, auto parts and precision manufacturing industry, as well as its photovoltaic and lithium industry.

These have experienced significant growth, with their output value increasing by 6 percent in the first half of this year. In particular, the auto parts and precision manufacturing industry increased by 17.6 percent in the same period.

Jiangsu Pacific Precision Forging Co Ltd, a key enterprise in Taizhou's auto parts sector – based in the Jiangyan Economic Development Zone – has been working on a project costing 3 billion yuan ($411.26 million) to improve product quality and processing efficiency.

In addition to industry development, Taizhou is also committed to attracting talent and facilitating the growth of its younger population.

To this end, the city aims to recruit 150,000 people in the next three years and it recently issued a raft of policies to develop itself into a youth and talent-friendly city.
