Taizhou city's Jiangyan district undergoes major development

The Jiangyan district of Taizhou city – located in East China's Jiangsu province – made significant progress in its high-quality development and modernization in 2023.

In the industrial sector, the district recorded industrial invoiced sales of 88.74 billion yuan ($12.44 billion) – with growth in industrial investment at 15 percent, output value at 4.9 percent and value-added at 7.5 percent. 

Additionally, two new provincial-level smart factories and several benchmark industrial internet factories were established. What's more, the agriculture sector saw the creation of high-quality demonstration areas for rice and wheat.

The service industry also experienced growth, with a 4 percent increase in value-added services and an 8 percent rise in total retail sales of consumer goods. 

Tourism flourished too, witnessing a 19.3 percent increase in tourists and a 23.6 percent rise in tourism revenue compared with 2019. The construction industry realized a total output value of 107.03 billion yuan and a 3 percent gain in tax revenue.

Throughout the course of last year, the Jiangyan district attracted 176 new projects with a contract value each worth over 100 million yuan, with 73 starting construction and 39 completed. 

The actual utilization of foreign investment in Jiangyan hit $1.58 billion, marking a whopping increase of 32.3 percent. The total value of imports and exports was $1.96 billion, rising 2.1 percent. 

Infrastructure developments included the completion of the new Jiangyan Railway Station as well as pocket parks. The district also focused on the welfare of its residents, completing 16 practical community projects, generating new urban employment and implementing various social security measures.

Jiangyan district also demonstrated a strong commitment to governance and public service. It achieved major milestones in administrative efficiency, public satisfaction with government services and the handling of legislative proposals.

The district also undertook comprehensive efforts in public safety and in the fight against crime.
