Construction enterprises based in Jiangyan district, Taizhou, secured 13 major contracts across Africa and Southeast Asia in the first quarter, amounting to $220 million in value.
Zhengtai Group won the bid for the China-aided ASEAN Animal Disease Laboratory project in Cambodia. Once completed, the state-of-the-art facility will feature a four-story laboratory building, a diesel generator room, a wastewater treatment zone, and other key infrastructure to support regional animal disease research and prevention.
Zhengtai Group also deepened its footprint in Namibia, winning a contract for Phase II of the Katima Campus expansion at the University of Namibia. The project includes the construction of new dormitory buildings and external facilities, with a contract value of 33.4 million yuan ($4.64 million).
In March, the group secured a contract at Lilongwe University of Agriculture and Natural Resources to build a teaching building for the School of Fashion.
In recent years, Jiangyan construction companies have been making the most of the Belt and Road Initiative to explore and expand into overseas markets. Zhengtai Group has been named among the "Top 250 Global Contractors" for four consecutive years. Other local firms are also making strides abroad: Jinchen Group continues to expand its presence in countries like Chad and Niger, while Qida Road and Bridge is establishing a foothold in Nepal and surrounding regions.
