Founded in 2016, Jolywood (Taizhou) Solar Technology is a majority-owned subsidiary of the publicly listed Jolywood Group and China's first enterprise dedicated to the research, production, and sales of N-type monocrystalline bifacial TOPCon solar cells.
Its products are widely used in smart photovoltaic grids, distributed generation, building-integrated photovoltaics (BIPV), energy storage systems, and large-scale solar power stations, catering to various markets around the world. As a pioneer in N-type technology, the company currently operates with a production capacity of 3.6 GW for N-type TOPCon cells and 5 GW for modules.
In 2021, Jolywood's self-developed N-type solar cell passed provincial appraisal and was recognized by an expert panel led by Academician Yang Deren for having "key technical indicators at the internationally advanced level".
The company has built a comprehensive R&D system, including a provincial engineering technology research center, an enterprise technology center, a CNAS-accredited laboratory, and a national postdoctoral research workstation. It holds 175 patents, including 61 inventions, and has played a leading role or participated in creating 12 national, industry, and group standards. Its annual R&D investment surpasses 3 percent of its operating revenue, totaling 150 million yuan ($21.06 million) in 2024.
Jolywood's research team consists of five PhD holders from home and abroad, one national-level expert, and multiple high-level talents at the provincial and municipal levels. With a 6,000 square meters cell center and a 6,800 sqm module R&D center equipped with over 100 sets of advanced instruments — including China's first POPAID coating system — the company continues to drive technological innovation and product advancement.
Jolywood has also undertaken several sub-projects under national key R&D programs and provincial-level major technology transformation initiatives. It has successfully passed three Jiangsu new product appraisals and received multiple honors, including the Jiangsu Provincial Science and Technology Progress Award (Third Prize) and the Taizhou Science and Technology Progress Award (First Prize), underscoring its strong capabilities in research innovation and results transformation.
