A lively city experience tour for talent recently took place in Jiangyan Economic Development Zone, where nearly 30 newly recruited employees from local enterprises explored the area's unique blend of culture, cuisine, and ecology.
The tour began at the Former Residence of an academician, a well-preserved Qing Dynasty (1644-1911) compound. As participants listened to stories about Qintong's cultural heritage, they paused to observe the old bricks and tiles, immersing themselves in the traces of the past. At Lyushu Temple, they stood beneath a centuries-old pagoda tree dating back to the Tang Dynasty (618-907), folding their hands in quiet reflection and making wishes for the future.

After a morning of exploration, participants were greeted with a culinary surprise on the ancient town's food street. The aroma of freshly prepared Qinhu Lake delicacies filled the air — from glutinous pastries to savory snacks — all available to taste for free. Lunch featured the renowned "Qinhu Lake Eight Delicacies Banquet", where local specialties such as fish, shrimp, and waterfowl showcased the freshness of Jiangyan's special cuisine. Between bites, participants chatted about work and life, deepening their sense of belonging.

In the afternoon, the group visited Qinhu Lake Wetland Park. A short boat ride across Magpie Lake offered a serene moment amid autumn breezes. At the Wetland Science Center, augmented reality (AR)-based exhibits made learning about the local ecosystem interactive and fun, prompting exclamations of delight from the group. At the Milu (Père David's deer) reserve, many captured photos of the gentle creatures up close, and later, at the birdwatching tower, free telescopes provided a closer look at migratory birds in motion — a vivid portrait of life thriving in the wetlands.

The event served as a vivid example of the Jiangyan EDZ's commitment to attracting and retaining talent. Moving forward, the zone plans to organize more such interactive activities to help professionals "come, enjoy, and stay", fostering a deeper connection to the city while strengthening the sense of belonging that fuels innovation and sustainable growth.
