Jiangsu Shenwang group Wire Rope Co, based in the Jiangyan Economic Development Zone in Taizhou, Jiangsu province, has produced special steel wire ropes that have operated continuously for more than 600 days aboard the Zhaoshang Hailong 9 drilling platform in the South China Sea.
This is longer than the average service life of around 526 days for comparable products.
Whether used as drilling lines or hoisting ropes, Shenwang's products have been deployed on several offshore platforms operated by China Oilfield Services Limited, one of the few oilfield services providers that can provide integrated and turnkey services to customers worldwide.
These end-to-end technological upgrades, from raw material sourcing to finished product, have made the product more competitive in the market.
"The new zinc-aluminum alloy steel wire production line at our smart workshop achieves a production efficiency of DV 500," said Gou Guangrong, chief engineer of the company's technology center.
"The anti-corrosion performance of the coating is three to five times higher than that of traditional galvanized steel wire. When this wire is used to make steel wire ropes for offshore platforms, it offers greater corrosion resistance and a longer service life," said Gou.
