The county-level city of Taixing – administered by Taizhou in East China's Jiangsu province – has focused on developing its productive services industry since the start of the year.

That's in a bid to bolster the deeper integration of the modern services and manufacturing sectors.

The productive services industry is a support industry directly related to the manufacturing industry, which provides support for industrial progress and upgrading.

One example of what's going on is SP Chemicals (Taixing) Co Ltd – located in the Taixing Economic Development Zone.

Centering on the development of its olefin supply chain, the company has invested in 114 million yuan ($15.9 million) in building a research and development center for new materials.

Elsewhere in the Taixing High-tech Zone, a scanning electron microscope production plant being funded by Narui Scientific Instruments Co has been completed and started operating, mainly providing testing, analysis and maintenance services for instruments in the semiconductors sector.

"We train engineers to provide customers with maintenance, installation applications and technical services. We also produce necessary spare parts for our equipment products to reduce the cost of customers," said general manager Li Jun.
