The Taixing Economic Development Zone, located in Taixing, Jiangsu province, was founded in 1991 and is part of the first batch of 13 provincial-level development zones in the province and one of the oldest professional fine chemical industrial parks in the country. The zone's total planned development area is 59.8 square kilometers, with a chemical industrial park area of 25.17 square kilometers.

The zone has been honored with titles such as China Torch Program Taixing Fine and Specialty Chemicals Characteristic Industry Base, Global Fine Chemical Industry Cluster Cooperation Base, National Circular Transformation Demonstration Park, National New Industrialization Industry Demonstration Base.

Strong comprehensive competitiveness

In recent years, the zone has adhered to high-end, refined, circular, green, and international development, focusing on the practical application of innovations, green development, and energy level enhancement, and has accelerated its development into a modern industrial park.

The zone has been among the top 10 chemical industrial parks in China for the past 12 years straight, rising to third place in 2024.

In 2024, the zone's industrial invoice sales hit 124.88 billion yuan ($17.32 billion), actual utilized foreign capital reached $210 million, and imports and exports hit $3.3 billion.

Distinctive industrial clusters

The zone is building a complete modern industrial system supported by fine chemicals, led by new materials and pharmaceuticals, and guaranteed by modern service industries. The zone's industrial correlation with the chemical sector has reached 78 percent, with a refinement rate of nearly 60 percent.

Based on its existing industrial foundation, the zone has implemented three major actions: revitalizing traditional industries, strengthening emerging industries, and cultivating future industries. It has tailored measures to six potential future industries, including cutting-edge new materials, hydrogen energy, new energy storage, zero carbon negative carbon, bio-based materials, and third-generation semiconductors.

The zone is now home to over 120 enterprises from over 20 countries and regions, including 19 Fortune Global 500 and top 50 chemical enterprises. It has 23 world-level champion products, including vinyl chloride, phthalocyanine pigments and polyacrylamide. Its products like caustic soda, styrene, acrylic acid, and polyvinyl chloride have a significant market share internationally.

Comprehensive supporting facilities
The zone owns a national first-class open port – Taixing Port – which can accommodate 150,000-metric-ton sea vessels 24/7. It is the most well-equipped and fully functional chemical product import and export base in China.

Infrastructure such as water, electricity, roads, natural gas, steam, pipelines, and communication, as well as supporting public services such as customs, commodities inspection, maritime-related services, border defense, schools, hospitals, and commercial areas, are all readily available.

The zone is accelerating the development of public service platforms such as industrial innovation centers and test bases, while its fine chemical industry research institute and scientific research incubators and accelerators have already been put into operation.
