The Taizhou Port Economic Development Zone – located in the Taizhou Medical High-tech Zone in Taizhou city, in East China's Jiangsu province – is promoting a combined approach to getting rid of bad refuse and waste.
As a result, it recently held a conference to guide resident small and medium-sized businesses on the centralized collection and storage of hazardous waste.
The "green island" project has been rolled out in Jiangsu since 2020.
It involves central points where the government invests in or organizes different investments to support the construction of environmental protection public infrastructure that can be shared by multiple business entities.
This can achieve unified collections, centralized treatment and stable standard discharges of pollutants.
As the first such project in the Taizhou Medical High-tech Zone, Taizhou Quanjia Environmental Protection Technology Co Ltd's green island can realize full process monitoring and information tracing of hazardous waste generation, storage, transfers and collection.
Every year, 12,000 metric tons of waste mineral oil and mineral oil –containing waste, 13,000 tons of waste lead-acid batteries, some 5,000 tons of other hazardous waste and 50,000 tons of general industrial solid waste – can be collected and stored there.
Other enterprise representatives promised the conference they would fulfill their main responsibilities, as well as promote hazardous waste to be collected and stored in the green island – thus effectively preventing environmental risks.
