The Taizhou Port Economic Development Zone – located in the prefecture-level city of Taizhou, in East China's Jiangsu province – is making concerted moves to bolster its innovation ties with universities located in North China's Shanxi province.

In a bid to foster industry-academia-research cooperation, Zhang Yun – deputy director of the management office of the Taizhou Port EDZ – recently led a delegation to a number of campuses in Shanxi.

The goal was to tap into top-tier innovation resources, enhance new productivity and facilitate the application of cutting-edge research within the zone.

During a visit to Xi'an Jiaotong University, the team held talks at the National Technology Transfer Centre.

The team looked at cases of successful technology transfers and discussed future collaborations. Zhang highlighted the centre's role as a key player in technology transfers, results transformation and industry collaborations – urging it to support the zone's industrial growth with its robust research capabilities.

At the School of Electronic Science and Engineering at Xi'an Jiaotong University, Zhang introduced the zone's initiatives and recruitment policies. He called for prioritizing the transfer of the school's research, technological innovations and talent development resources to the zone.

The zone, in turn, pledged to offer exceptional services and an optimal environment to facilitate the integration of high-quality projects.

The delegation also visited the School of Materials Science and Engineering at Northwestern Polytechnical University, where Professor Li Jinglong – a native of the Gaogang district in Taizhou city – discussed the school's specialties and research focus.

Zhang urged Professor Li to leverage his expertise and resources to contribute to the development of his hometown.
