The health food sector is an important driving force in the Xinghua Economic Development Zone, located in Xinghua city – administered by Taizhou in East China's Jiangsu province – which enables consumers to eat well and healthily.
It's a popular industry, which is enjoying rude health and as a result, is growing rapidly.
At the zone's resident manufacturer Taizhou Anjoy Food Co Ltd, the demand for its tender fish balls recently exceeded supply.
The raw material used for fish balls is fish mince produced by a local supplier called Daze and all the fish used for fish mince are silver carp raised in Xinghua. Anjoy Food consumes 10,000 metric tons of fish mince annually.
Elsewhere, the frozen fried rice product from local company Kerisom is now a hit in the market. Its raw materials – such as rice, flour, vegetables, and eggs – are being produced in Xinghua.
Overall, the output value contributed by the food industry accounts for 53 percent of the zone's total amount.
"The health food industry is the result of the integrated development of Xinghua's agriculture and tourism industries," said Chen Fengjian, the city's Party secretary.
