Once extinct along the riverside due to stringent ecological requirements, the rare and endangered reed parrotbill has made a remarkable comeback in Taixing's riverside areas.

This Chinese-endemic species, highly dependent on intact reed ecosystems for survival and reproduction, is now thriving thanks to the continuous ecological improvements under the Yangtze River protection strategy.
Ecological engineers and bird observers have reported the presence of around four flocks of these birds, a testament to the successful restoration of reed habitats. Since 2015, a biodiversity observation station on Tianxingzhou Island has been operating, equipped with advanced monitoring tools to comprehensively track biological activities.
Taixing has carried out multiple ecological restoration projects, including afforestation, water level regulation, and removal of invasive plant species, creating a 12-kilometer green ecological corridor.

These efforts have resulted in the observation of 83 bird species, totaling over 7,000 individuals, along the riverside. Authorities plan to further optimize ecological restoration strategies, aiming to establish a model region for harmonious coexistence between humans and nature.
