The Taizhou Medical High-tech Zone – located in Taizhou city, in East China's Jiangsu province – is hard at work building innovative platforms to promote the commercialization of the technological achievements that are being made there.
In recent years, many scientific research institutes and institutes of universities have settled in the zone, including the Taizhou Keju New Material Technology Research Institute and the International Centre for Genetic Engineering and Biotechnology China Regional Research Centre.
Others have been the innovative technology research institutes of Fudan University, the Peking University Health Science Center and Southeast University.
At present, the Taizhou Keju New Material Technology Research Institute is home to 23 high-end research teams and focuses on high-tech nano materials, polymers, special water-based coatings, organic optoelectronic and other materials.

One company to settle there, Taizhou Sanding New Material Technology Co Ltd, has developed an inorganic coating for building walls with the support of the institute. With the advantages of zero formaldehydes, zero heavy metals and no pollution, it supplies Nippon Paint, Dulux, Oriental Yuhong and other leading brands.
To date, the zone has constructed 21 public service platforms, with a total investment of over 1 billion yuan ($146.43 million) and has signed innovative platform agreements involving the expenditure of 1.33 billion yuan.
In 2022, three potential unicorn companies and 12 gazelle enterprises moved there.
